Belgium has more histroy, art, and architecture packed inside its tiny borders than many of its bigger, louder neighbours. For a start, it claims some of Europe's finest medieval cities: Antwerp, Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Leuven. Festivals and celebrations keep the locals occupied year round, and eating well or lingering over a beer in good company are national pastimes. The best time to visit are May to September ( summer ), Christmas and Carnival (January - February).
