Ghana

Ghanaians have plenty to be proud of. Their country was home to West Africa's mightiest, gold-dripping empire; it was the first to drop colonialism and go it alone; it built the biggest artificial lake in the world; and it produces some of Africa's best high life music and most famous sculpture. Yet you won't find a more chilled out and friendly people. So if you want to sample West Africa's modern and ancient cultures, explore its historic slave forts, toast yourself on its beautiful beaches and do it all speaking English. Ghanaians like to have fun, Ghana is, after all, the place where high life music got its start.
